Responding emergency personnel from the Ventura County Fire Department found one person trapped and several other people with injuries.
Ventura, CA. – At least seven people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened late Thursday afternoon in Ventura.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident was reported around 4:50 p.m. on eastbound Highway 126 near Wells Road. The area is east of the Edwards Ranch overpass located between Ventura and Santa Paula.
A van and two other vehicles were involved in the collision. The van rolled over and caught fire.
Responding emergency personnel from the Ventura County Fire Department found one person trapped and several other people with injuries.
The firefighters extricated the trapped party and took them by ground ambulance to a helicopter waiting nearby. The patient was flown to Los Robles Regional Medical Center with critical injuries.
At least six other people had injuries of varying extent. Several of them were transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital for treatment.
CHP officers said before the crash, callers reported seeing the van with a sliding door open on the driver's side driving “all over the roadway.”
The collision forced the closure of all eastbound lanes of Highway 126 at Wells Road. The closure also affected nearby roads and extended into the night.
CHP officers are investigating the accident.
