Modesto, CA: Child, Woman Injured in Pedestrian Crash on West Orangeburg Avenue

Modesto, California (September 14, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Monday morning pedestrian accident that left an 8-year-old girl critically injured and her 54-year-old grandmother moderately in Modesto.

The major injury accident occurred at about 8:00 a.m., on September 13, on West Orangeburg Avenue.

According to the police, the girl, her 7-year-old brother, and the grandmother were crossing the roadway when a vehicle, driven by Abdul Malik Hamida, 21, of Modesto.

The girl sustained major injuries and was taken to Valley Children’s Hospital for treatment. The boy was not injured.

The grandmother was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

Hamida remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the accident.

An investigation into the collision is underway.
