Mark Bocanegra Killed in Highland Scooter Accident on Church Avenue

Highland, California (September 12, 2021) – Authorities have identified the scooter rider who was killed Saturday night in a traffic collision in the Highland area as Mark Bocanegra, 52.

The deadly crash occurred at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday, September 11, at the intersection of Church Avenue and Stratford Street.

Authorities said Bocanegra was riding his motorized scooter southbound on Church Avenue when he hit the passenger’s side of a 2015 Ford F150 that was attempting to turn left onto Stratford Street.

Bocanegra was thrown off the scooter upon the impact.

Deadly Scooter Accident on Church Avenue in Highland

Bocanegra was pronounced dead at the scene, despite life-saving measures performed by the medical personnel.

The 19-year-old driver of the Ford stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police.

The crash remains under investigation.
