Somerton, Arizona (September 27, 2023) – A man sustained major injuries in a crash involving a semi-truck in Somerton on Tuesday morning, according to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident took place in the area of County 13th St. and S. Somerton Avenue at about 4:50 a.m. September 26.

A commercial semi-truck was reportedly pulling out of a private drive when it failed to stop and collided with a Ford F-150 traveling northbound on Somerton Avenue.

The driver of the Ford, a 63-year-old man, was pulled out of his vehicle and was airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital with major injuries.

A passenger of the Ford was treated for minor injuries.

The accident is under investigation.
