Anthony Gomez Dies in Wrong-Way Crash on 405 Freeway in Van Nuys

Van Nuys, California (October 30, 2023) – The man who was killed in a multi-vehicle accident early Monday morning on 405 Freeway in Van Nuys has been identified as 28-year-old Anthony Gomez.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at around 4:38 a.m. on the northbound (405) Freeway north of Sherman Way.

According to CHP, Gomez was headed northbound on I-405 when his car hit the center divider and stopped facing the wrong way.

His car was then struck by multiple other vehicles leaving Comez with fatal injuries. Gomez was declared dead at the scene.

Some other people suffered minor injuries in the crash.

A SigAlert was issued at around 4:57 a.m. shutting down all northbound lanes at Sherman Way for the investigation and clean up.

An investigation is ongoing.

Van Nuys, California (October 30, 2023) – At least one person was killed in a multi-vehicle collision involving a wrong-way vehicle early Monday morning in Van Nuys.

The fatal crash happened on Freeway at Sherman Way at around 5 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Initial reports indicate that a wrong-way driver may have slammed into the center divider before it was struck by several vehicles.

CHP says one person was killed in the accident.

The victim was not immediately disclosed.
