The accident occurred around 3:40 a.m. on August 1 in the westbound lanes of the highway near Ashby Avenue.
Berkeley, CA. – 82-year-old Charles Gerald Nelson has been identified by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office as the pedestrian who died earlier this month in a collision on Highway 80 in Berkeley.
The accident occurred around 3:40 a.m. on August 1 in the westbound lanes of the highway near Ashby Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol said Nelson was hit by a semi-trailer for reasons still under investigation.
The pedestrian died from injuries suffered in the accident.
CHP closed two westbound lanes of the highway when they were investigating the crash.
Impairment was not considered to be a contributing factor.
