29-Year-Old Covelo Man Dies in Willits Collision on Highway 101
Willits, California (September 13, 2021) – A man was killed in a head-on collision near Willits on Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened shortly after 11 a.m. September 12, on Highway 101, north of the Ridgewood Scale Facility.
CHP said a 29-year-old Covelo man was driving a 2000 Acura Integra northbound on Highway 101 when he crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with a 2009 Dodge Ram driven by a 29-year-old Olivehurst woman.
After the collision, the truck slammed into the guardrail and it overturned onto its roof.

The driver of the Acura was extricated from the vehicle and declared deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge sustained major injuries while her passengers had minor injuries. They were all taken to Adventist Health Howard Memorial.
The identities of the involved parties were not released pending notification of the next of kin.
The CHP is handling the investigation.
