Hayward, CA. – A man who passed out in a parking lot was run over by a car and killed Wednesday afternoon in Hayward, according to police.
The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 26000 block of Gading Road.
Hayward police responded to the scene after they received reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.
The officers found a man with injuries in the parking lot. The pedestrian was conscious and breathing, and the officers spoke with him at the scene.
Emergency personnel transported the patient to the hospital, but his condition worsened, and he was later pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the man fainted and was run over by a car turning in the area while he was lying on the ground. The 52-year-old Hayward resident driving the vehicle reportedly did not see the man on the ground before hitting him.
The driver cooperated with authorities.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
