Oxnard, CA.– A 44-year-old man sustained major injuries when he was struck by a vehicle in Oxnard on Friday morning, according to a report by the Oxnard Police Department.
The incident took place in the area of First Street and Roosevelt Avenue at about 7:55 a.m.
Police reported that a man was riding a bicycle without brakes westbound on First Street when he was hit by a 2022 Toyota Camry heading north.
The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from his bike by the impact of the collision.
The bicyclist, only identified as a 44-year-old man from Oxnard, was rushed to Ventura County Medical Center with critical injuries.
The driver of the Toyota, a 20-year-old Oxnard resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The investigation is ongoing.
