Pedestrian Hit, Injured by Car at Chicago Avenue and Ellen Avenue in Merced
Merced, California (July 4, 2023) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a car in Merced County on Monday night.
The auto-pedestrian accident happened around 7:20 p.m. at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Ellen Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A vehicle was traveling north on Chicago and was making a right turn onto Ellen Avenue when it struck the man walking eastbound across Ellen Avenue.
The pedestrian, identified only as a 49-year-old man, was seriously injured and was transported to a Modesto hospital with major injuries.
The driver of the involved vehicle was wearing a seatbelt and was unhurt.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
