Ling Yang, Edward Zhang Among 3 Injured in Fatal US 101 Crash in Del Norte County
Del Norte County, California (August 7, 2021) – Ling Yang, 48, and Edward Zhang, 12, both of Irvine, were among three people injured in a deadly car accident in Del Norte County on Friday afternoon, according to a report by the CHP.
At about 1:45 p.m. August 6, CHP said a 1997 Ford Explorer was heading north on US 101 when it swerved across the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Acura MDX.
Ling Yang and Edward Zhang Injured in Fatal Crash in Del Norte County
Yang and Zhang were passengers in the Acura. Yang sustained moderate injuries while Zhang had minor injuries. They were both taken to Sutter Coast Hospital for treatment.
CHP said the driver of the Ford, a 66-year-old McKinleyville man, died at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the Acura, Xiangping Zhang, 56, of Irvine, also had minor injuries and was taken to Sutter Coast Hospital.
Alcohol and drugs were not believed to have played a role in the accident, CHP said.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
