According to the Oregon State Police, the accident happened at around 6:30 p.m. January 27 on State Route 101 near milepost 247
Coos County, OR – Judy Marie Scharf ,79, of Bandon, was killed and James Earl Yost ,71, of Sixes, hospitalized after their cars nearly collided head on on Highway 101 in Coos County Monday evening.
According to the Oregon State Police, the accident happened at around 6:30 p.m. January 27 on State Route 101 near milepost 247.
A preliminary investigation revealed Scharf crossed into the southbound lanes for unknown reasons and struck a southbound Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Yost nearly head-on.
Scharf was declared deceased at the scene while Yost suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The highway was impacted for approximately two hours during the on-scene investigation.
The cause of the accident is being investigated.
