Hamilton City Man, Caldwell Man Killed in Head-On Collision on Highway 45 in Glenn County

Glenn County, California (August 24, 2021) – Two men were killed and three other people were seriously injured in a Monday morning traffic collision in Glenn County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly head-on crash occurred at around 6:15 a.m. Monday, August 23, on Highway 45, just south of Highway 162.

The CHP said a man from Caldwell, Idaho, was driving a Ford Explorer northbound on Highway 45 when, for unknown reasons, he allowed the vehicle to drift into the southbound lane, where it collided head-on with a Chevy Malibu driven by a Hamilton City man.

Both drivers were declared dead at the scene.  The names of the deceased victims have not been disclosed pending notification of their respective families.

Three passengers of the Ford, a 35-year-old woman, an 8-year-old boy, and a 10-year-old boy, all from Caldwell, Idaho, were transported to a local hospital with major injuries.

No other details about the crash were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
