Police said the driver of the shuttle bus took his feet off the brakes and accelerated, hitting a parked car and running over a pedestrian
Phoenix, AZ.– A man died after being run over by a shuttle bus at a transit facility in West Phoenix on Monday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The incident took place near 79th Avenue and Van Buren Street at around 5 a.m. October 7.
Police said the driver of the shuttle bus took his feet off the brakes and accelerated, hitting a parked car and running over a pedestrian.
The bus also hit another parked bus with no occupants.
The pedestrian, identified as George Meletis, 59, died at the scene.
The two occupants of the first bus were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
Police said all the parties involved in the accident worked at the facility.
The incident remains under investigation.
