One Person Killed in Fresno County Crash on Highway 33 near Douglas Avenue
Fresno County, California (August 16, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Monday morning traffic accident that killed one person in Fresno County.
The deadly accident transpired at about 3:30 a.m. on Highway 33 near Douglas Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Hyundai Veloster was headed southbound on the highway when it veered into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a semi-truck hauling tomatoes.
Following the collision, the Hyundai reportedly caught fire.
Sadly the male driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized for treatment.
Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the accident.
More details about the collision were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
