Rider Killed in Escondido Bicycle Accident on Ronald Packard Parkway (78) near Centre City Parkway

Escondido, California (August 21, 2021) – A bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night in Escondido, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly bicycle accident occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m. on the eastbound side of Ronald Packard Parkway (78) near Centre City Parkway.
According to a witness, the bicyclist was attempting to cross to the right shoulder from the center divider when they were hit by a white Volvo sedan.
Bicyclist Killed in SR-78 Crash
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The driver involved stopped and cooperated with the police.
The crash prompted the authorities to close all eastbound lanes.
