2 Killed in Fiery San Bernardino Crash on 215 Freeway near 210 Freeway Identified

San Bernardino, California (July 5, 2023) – Two people who died in a car crash that left one other person critically injured last month in San Bernardino have been identified.
At around 2:38 a.m. on June 24, the California Highway Patrol and crew from the San Bernardino Fire Department responded to reports of a car crash on southbound I-215 Freeway near the 210 Freeway.
A semi-truck, a white utility truck and a gray Jeep Cherokee were involved in the accident. The events leading up to the accident were not immediately established. The Jeep reportedly caught fire after the collision.
The Jeep driver, 22-year-old Erick Ernesto Hernandez from Adelanto and his passenger, 50-year-old Cesar Benito Hernandez Hernandez of Fullerton, were pronounced dead at the accident scene.
Another occupant was ejected from the Jeep and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
One person was determined to be driving under the influence. More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
