88-Year-Old Woman Killed in Shasta County Crash on Shasta Dam Boulevard

Shasta County, CA – An elderly pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in Shasta County on Monday afternoon, according to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.

The incident took place at about 1:51 p.m. June 3, on Shasta Dam Boulevard near McConnel Avenue.

According to the report, an 88-year-old Shasta Lake woman was trying to cross the road outside of a crosswalk when she was hit by a westbound Cadillac sedan.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver, Pamela Verhanes, 57, of Shasta Lake, was cited for Object Reducing Driver's View and Unsafe Speed.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
