A Toyota Sequoia was traveling west when it collided head-on with a Chevrolet Traverse
Lake Tahoe, CA. – Authorities have identified two people who were killed in a head-on collision near Meyers in El Dorado County on Thanksgiving night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 5:30 p.m. on U.S. 50 near Audrain Way.
Donald Smith, 84, of Wellington, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse eastbound when he collided head-on with an oncoming 2001 Toyota Sequoia driven by Jeffrey Chen, 28, of Kirkland, Washington.
Smith was killed in the accident.
Peggy Liu, 50, of Fremont, California, was a passenger of the Sequoia who was also killed in the accident.
Jeffrey suffered major injuries while his passengers, 64-year-old Shi Chen, 60-year-old Ellen Liu and 26-year-old Kevin Chen suffered moderate injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
