Shortly after, a motorcycle rider failed to stop and slammed into the patrol vehicle, then struck the Salas

Spokane, WA.– Deputy Kenneth Salas, 59, was killed in a crash that happened in Spokane on Saturday morning, according to a report by the Washington State Patrol.
The incident happened on Interstate 90 near the Four Lakes exit at around 8 a.m. August 9.
According to the WSP report, hay bales fell off a truck traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 and Deputy Salas pulled over at the scene to help the driver of the truck.
Shortly after, a motorcycle rider failed to stop and slammed into the patrol vehicle, then struck the Salas.
The WSP said Salas was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The motorcyclist, identified as Bobby J. Robbins, 39, of Malden, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
The WSP is conducting an investigation into the collision.
