Deadly Pedestrian Accident at Intersection in Riverside

Riverside, California (November 6, 2023) – A male pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at an intersection in Riverside Sunday afternoon.

According to the Riverside Police Department, the incident happened at around 4:08 p.m. at University Avenue and Main Street.

A silver Honda Civic allegedly driven by Jesus Rodriguez was eastbound on University when it hit the pedestrian in the crosswalk for unknown reasons.

Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the man to Riverside Community Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The identity of the victim was not immediately disclosed.

Rodriguez left the scene but was later located by the officers in San Jacinto. He was arrested for suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony hit-and-run.

The crash remains under investigation.
