Andreas Kooi Hospitalized after San Luis Obispo Bicycle Accident near Foothill Boulevard and Broad Street, Driver Arrested
San Luis Obispo, California (August 8, 2021) – 23-year-old Andreas Kooi, of San Luis Obispo, has been identified as the bicyclist who was hit and injured by an alleged hit-and-run driver early Friday morning in San Luis Obispo, according to a report by the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
The bicycle accident happened near Foothill Boulevard and Broad Street at around 12:38 a.m.
Kooi was riding a bicycle near the Broad Street intersection when a vehicle operated by a 17-year-old San Luis Obispo resident westbound on Foothill Boulevard struck him in the morning hours.

Andreas sustained unspecified injuries and was rushed to an area hospital for medication.
The involved motorist did not stop to render aid and fled the scene.
Authorities eventually located and arrested the suspect while walking through the area and was charged with hit-and-run with injury and driving while intoxicated.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
