Portland, OR. – 33-year-old Samantha “Sam” Deschenes died after a construction accident that happened Thursday last week at a Portland high school.
According to the Portland Fire and Rescue, the accident took place around 3 p.m. on May 30 at the Benson Polytechnic High School.
Authorities said Deschenes got trapped under a forklift machine while working on a construction project at the school.
The victim was transported to a hospital, where she died from her injuries a day later.
According to Andersen Construction, Deschenes had been working on the Benson Polytechnic High School project for about a year. She was a member of Ironworkers Local 29 for the last three years.
The construction company suspended work following the fatal accident.
