Officials said a man in his 30s was working on a sewer line of a private property of a residence when he was partially buried in approximately 10 feet of dirt.
San Mateo, CA. – A construction worker sustained critical injuries following a trench collapse, according to the San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department officials.
The accident happened a while before 9:30 a.m. in the 300 block of West 41st Avenue.
Officials said a man in his 30s was working on a sewer line of a private property of a residence when he was partially buried in approximately 10 feet of dirt.
Fire department officials rushed to the scene and extricated the man. The rescue operation took about an hour and special equipment was applied.
41st Avenue from Hacienda Street to Alameda de las Pulgas was closed down as the authorities worked on the scene.
The man was rushed by ground ambulance to the hospital as the foggy weather was not favorable for an airlift.
An investigation is ongoing.
