Manteca, CA – At least five people were injured after a car crashed into a pizza restaurant in Manteca on Sunday.
The Manteca Police Department says a car crashed into Jack's Pizza on West Yosemite Avenue.
A 34-year-old Oakland woman was driving a car going around 80 to 100 miles per hour when she ran a red light, became airborne and crashed into the restaurant.
One person suffered severe injuries in the crash and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Authorities say three people were hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries. One employee was hurt but declined treatment.
Police say four of the patients were customers at the restaurant.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
