Bicyclist Jered Freeman Struck and Seriously Hurt by Box Truck on Hatch Road in Modesto

Modesto, California (August 23, 2021) – The 35-year-old Ceres man who was seriously injured in a bicycle accident on a highway in Modesto Thursday afternoon has been identified as Jered Freeman.

The major injury crash was reported just around 1:15 p.m., on August 19, along Hatch Road near Dallas Street.

For unclear circumstances, a bicycle being ridden by Freeman west on Hatch Road swerved to the left and into the path of an oncoming box truck being driven by 27-year-old Kenny Lima-Galdamez.

Lima-Galdamez attempted to avoid the collision by turning his vehicle to the left, but the truck’s front collided with the bicycle.

Due to the impact, Jered Freeman, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the bike and sustained serious injuries to his head following the accident.

As per the California Highway Patrol report, Jered was taken to the Doctors Medical Center for medication.

There were no other victims hurt, including the Oakland resident Lima-Galdamez.

The Modesto accident remains under active investigation.
