A cyclist was hit and killed by a car Monday night on E. Blanco Road in Salinas

Salinas, Calif. – A cyclist was struck and killed by a car Monday night in Salinas, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Salinas police, firefighters, and paramedics responded to eastbound East Blanco Road near La Mesa Way after receiving reports of the crash at around 8:10 p.m.
The responders found a bicyclist unconscious and not breathing after being hit by a gray Jeep.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at 8:12 p.m.
The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Eastbound Blanco Road at La Mesa Way remained blocked during the investigation. Traffic was being diverted onto La Mesa Way.
The roadway was reopened at 10:24 p.m.
