Betty Hamm Dies in Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway in Douglas County
Douglas County, Oregon (June 28, 2023) – 54-year-old Betty Hamm of Grant Pass was killed in a pedestrian crash last week Saturday night in Douglas County.
According to the Oregon State Police, the auto-pedestrian crash happened around 10: 20 p.m. on June 24 on Interstate 5 near Milepost 123.
Reportedly, a black Land Range Rover driven by Jonnie Leroy Puz Jr., (54) of Roseburg, was going south on 5 Freeway in the fast lane when it hit Hamm, who was going west across the freeway.
Hamm was pronounced dead at the crash site.
Puz Jr. stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
The crash impacted the roadway for about three hours.
The fatal pedestrian crash remains under investigation.
