Car Rear-Ends Semi-Truck on 880 Freeway in Oakland, Causing Major Injuries
Oakland, California (June 28, 2023) – At least one person suffered severe injuries in an early Wednesday morning crash involving a semi-truck in Oakland.
The California Highway Patrol said the collision occurred at around 2:20 a.m. on the southbound 880 Freeway, just south of the 66th Avenue on-ramp.
Officers said a Nissan Altima rear-ended a semi-truck for an unknown reason.
CHP officers and Oakland firefighters responded to the scene and found one person trapped in the wreckage.
The firefighters transported one person to the hospital with major injuries.
The Altima was towed away with major front-end damage.
CHP officers blocked the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes during an investigation.
