Santa Maria, CA.- Alma Teresa Alcorta Del Lazaro, 53, of Santa Maria, has been identified as the woman who was killed in a suspected DUI wrong-way collision in Santa Maria early Sunday morning, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office Coroner's Bureau.
The wreck took place on Highway 101 near Betteravia Road at about 5:20 a.m. September 8.
The California Highway Patrol said Kendra Cordova, 34, of Santa Maria, was driving a Mazda CX-9 the wrong way on southbound Highway 101 when she collided with an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado driven by Cecilio L. Camacho, 63, of Santa Maria.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, identified as Alcorta Del Lazaro, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Camacho was extricated by the firefighters and was rushed to Marian Regional Medical Center with critical injuries.
CHP said Cordova was arrested and booked into the Northern Branch Jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI causing great bodily injury.
The crash is under investigation.
