Alejandro Castrejon Hospitalized after Mendocino County Accident on Highway 101

Mendocino County, California (August 6, 2021) – Alejandro T. Castrejon, 24, sustained major injuries in a crash involving a big rig near Laytonville on Thursday afternoon, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The collision happened at around 2:50 p.m. on Highway 101 near Steele Lane.
According to CHP, Castrejon was driving a 2005 Saturn northbound on Highway 101 when he drifted into the path of oncoming traffic and collided with a southbound 2012 Freightliner driven by a 63-year-old Williams man.

Castrejon was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries.
The second driver was taken to Adventist Health Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits with minor injuries.
Both directions of Highway 101 were closed for the investigation.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
