Merced County, CA.- A 60-year-old man died days after a crash that happened on Saturday night in Merced County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place on Shanks Road and SR-99 at about 7:01 p.m. October 12.
The CHP said a 26-year-old Sacramento resident was traveling southbound on Highway 99 when he exited at the Shanks Road off-ramp and was hit by a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 60-year-old Delhi man.
Both vehicles then crashed into a metal guardrail.
Emergency crews performed life-saving measures on the 60-year-old driver, who was then rushed to a hospital with major injuries.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the hospital on Thursday.
The other driver was treated for minor injuries.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the incident.
The CHP is investigating the accident.
