2 Struck and Killed by Train on I-84 at Northeast 28th Avenue in Portland

Portland, Oregon (November 5, 2023) – Two people were struck and killed by a Max light rail train on Saturday night in Portland.

The accident occurred on Interstate 84 at Northeast 28th Avenue at around 9:39 p.m.

According to the authorities, a single vehicle had been involved in a speed-related crash but no injuries were reported.

Two occupants reportedly jumped over a barrier to retrieve their damaged car when they were struck by a train.

They were both pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team responded to the crash and is investigating the accident.
