Teen Killed in San Luis Obispo Collision on Highway 1 and Highland Drive

San Luis Obispo, California (September 11, 2021) – A teen was killed in a multi-vehicle accident in San Luis Obispo on Saturday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.

At around 6:45 a.m., CHP said a 17-year-old San Luis Obispo resident was stopped for a red light at Highway 1 and Highland Drive. He then entered the intersection to make a left turn onto Highway 1 and was broadsided by a 2010 Ford-150 driven by Bryan Griffiths, 79, of Morro Bay.

Griffiths is believed to have run a red light, leading to the accident with the teen’s 1990 Volvo.

The Volvo was pushed into the path of a 2006 BMW 750 driven by Tisha Leigh Breda, 50, of Cambria.

17-Year-Old Killed in San Luis Obispo Crash on Highway 1  

The driver of the Volvo was transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

Griffiths was transported to French Hospital with moderate injuries.

Breda was treated for minor injuries.

The CHP is investigating the collision.
