15-Year-Old Jacob Gonzalez Dies After Being Hit by Vehicle While Riding Mini Bike in Northeast Bakersfield

, Calif. – A 15-year-old boy has died following a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a mini-bike in northeast Bakersfield Tuesday night, according to the Kern County Coroner's Office.

The crash happened at around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, at the intersection of River Boulevard and , authorities said.

According to the Kern County Coroner's Office Jacob Gonzalez of Bakersfield, was riding a makeshift gas-powered mini-bike when he was hit by an Jeep

Gonzalez was seriously injured and was transported to Kern Medical where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning.

CHP officials said there was another person on the mini-bike at the time of the crash. It was not immediately clear if the second person was injured.
