Bus and Car Collide and Crash into Long Beach Restaurant; 14 People Injured
Long Beach, California (November 9, 2023) – 14 people were injured after a bus and a car collided before crashing into a restaurant in Long Beach Thursday afternoon, according to a police report.
According to the Long Beach Fire Department, a Long Beach public transit bus and a car collided near the intersection of South Street and California Avenue and then slammed into the restaurant at about 3:15 p.m.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and found a total of 14 people with injuries. The patients included two people who were in the car and were extricated by firefighters using Jaws of Life. The other 12 other patients were passengers from the bus.
Reportedly, 10 people were taken to nearby hospitals to be treated for injuries. Four of the ten hospitalized patients required advanced life support.
According to LBFD, the first floor of the damaged structure was a restaurant. One inside the restaurant was hurt during the incident. Two people on the second floor were displaced as a result of the incident.
No additional information regarding the crash was provided.
