Castroville, CA. – A 42-year-old man died after being struck by a car early Sunday morning in Castroville.
The fatal auto-pedestrian accident happened on Espinosa Road east of Highway 183 at around 4:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A pedestrian was in the westbound lane and was struck by a Mercedes.
Police say the pedestrian died at the accident scene, according to the Monterey County Coroner's Office.
The Mercedes continued to travel west and the vehicle came to rest in an agricultural field.
The driver of the Mercedes stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with the police.
