Red Bluff Man Killed in Tehama County Crash on Highway 99 near South Avenue

Tehama County, California (September 9, 2021) – One person was killed and another injured in a fatal wrong-way collision that happened in Tehama County on Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident took place on Highway 99 just south of South Avenue in Vina shortly before 6 a.m.
CHP said an SUV was heading north on southbound Highway 99 when it collided head-on with a tanker truck.

The driver of the SUV, a 28-year-old Red Bluff man, died at the scene of the accident.
The operator of the tanker truck, a Chico man, was airlifted to Enloe Medical Center in Chico with moderate injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
