One person was killed and four others injured when two cars collided Monday night at La Palma and Knott avenues, hitting a person standing nearby
Buena Park, Calif. – One person died, and several others were injured when two vehicles collided and hit a bystander Monday night at an intersection in Buena Park, the Orange County Fire Authority reported.
The accident happened around 11:45 p.m. at La Palma and Knott avenues.
Authorities said two cars collided at the intersection, and one of them struck an innocent bystander.
Two people were pulled from one of the cars, and two others were able to get out of their vehicle by themselves.
First responders found a dark sedan that appeared to have rolled over, a white Mercedes, and a bicycle.
One person was killed in the crash. It was unclear whether the deceased was the bystander or an occupant of one of the vehicles.
Four others were hospitalized in unknown condition.
Debris from the collision was scattered across the intersection.
Witnesses said Buena Park police officers were chasing one of the vehicles when it crashed into the other. Police did not, however, confirm that information.
