Abraham Hinojosa-Mercado Dies in Car Collision on Hesperia Road and Ottawa Street

Victorville, California (February 27, 2023) – 19-year-old Abraham Hinojosa-Mercado was killed in a two-vehicle collision that took place Saturday night in Victorville, police said.

According to Victorville Police Department, the wreck was reported at around 10:01 p.m. on Hesperia Road near Ottawa Street.

Victorville police, firefighters, and AMR responded to the scene.

Hinojosa-Mercado was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said the deceased was driving a silver Nissan Sentra northbound on Hesperia Road. When he just passed the intersection with Ottawa Street, he lost control of the car and struck a white Nissan Altima driven southbound by Jose Gonzalez, 32, of Victorville.

Gonzalez remained at the scene and cooperated with police. It was not clear if he was hurt.

Hesperia Road was closed in both directions between Green Tree Boulevard and Nisqualli Road for several hours following the accident.
