Six Hurt in Murrieta Accident on Interstate 215

Murrieta, California (May 2, 2023) – Six people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision involving a suspected DUI driver in Murrieta on Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened on Interstate 215 near Linnel Lane at around 3:15 a.m. May 1.

CHP said Isaiah F. Orona, 26, of Menifee, was driving a 2020 Dodge Charger northbound on I-215 when he made an unsafe turning movement and crashed into the concrete center divider.

The Charger then drifted back into the traffic lanes and collided with a 2004 Hyundai driven by a 55-year-old Menifee man.

The impact caused the Charger to move into the southbound side and it collided with a 2017 Kia Sportage that was carrying a family of four.

A 6-year-old boy in the Kia and his father, a 27-year-old Las Vegas man, sustained major injuries.

Orona also sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Three other parties involved in the incident had minor injuries.

The operator of the Hyundai declined transport to a hospital, but everyone else was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.

Orona was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI following the incident.

The incident is under investigation.
