Five Hurt in Placer County Crash on Interstate 80

Placer County, California (February 24, 2023) – Several people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Friday afternoon in Placer County, according to California Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened on Interstate 80 and Drum Forebay Road just after 2:30 p.m. 

18 vehicles, including a Cal Fire pickup truck, reportedly got involved in a pileup in the westbound lanes of the interstate.

Authorities said five people sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Multiples I-80 lanes wer shut down as crews worked to clear the scene.

The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
