3 Injured, Gravel Strewn All Over 32502 Ortega Highway After 3 Trucks Collide in San Juan Capistrano

, CA. – Three drivers were injured, and gravel was spilled all over Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano when three trucks collided Wednesday afternoon.

The wreck occurred around 2 p.m. near the Greenstone Materials recycling facility at the 32502 block of Ortega Highway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a was attempting to exit the private driveway of the company onto Ortega Highway when a westbound truck attempting to turn into the driveway was blocked, so the driver pulled over to wait.

As the truck exiting pulled into traffic, it collided with a third truck heading eastbound on Ortega Highway. The two trucks then hit the truck that was pulled over onto the shoulder.

The truck drivers sustained minor injuries.

Gravel spilled onto the highway, prompting work crews to spend hours to clear the gravel and tow the trucks from the scene.

As of 6:30 p.m., only one lane was used by motorists as officers directed traffic in both directions.
