Three Killed in Sunnyvale Accident on Highway 101

Sunnyvale, California (May 22, 2023) – Three people were killed in a multi-vehicle accident early Monday morning in Sunnyvale, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck took place at around 12:30 a.m. on Highway 101 at Fair Oaks Boulevard. 

Authorities said nearly six vehicles were involved in the collision. A red Ford pickup truck collided with the center divider and caused other vehicles to crash.

Three people who got out of the crashed vehicles were fatally hit.

Five other people were taken to a hospital for treatment.

All north and southbound lanes of the freeway were shut down as crews worked to clear the scene.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
