Granite Bay, California (February 26, 2023) – A woman and two girls were injured in a Granite Bay crash after a Tesla crashed into a Girl Scout cookie stand in a Walmart parking lot.

The accident occurred at about 3:50 p.m., on February 25, near Douglas Boulevard and Sierra College Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2015 Tesla, driven by Gary Benson, crashed into the Girl Scout cookie stand outside the store entrance.

A 76-year-old woman who was struck suffered major injuries, and two girls ages 9 and 10 who were struck suffered moderate injuries. They were all hospitalized for treatment.

Benson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was booked into the Placer County Jail on felony charges of driving under the influence and causing injuries.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
