2 Sustain Serious Injuries in Oakland Accident on 880 Freeway near 23rd Avenue On-Ramp
Oakland, California (December 31, 2022) – Two people were severely injured in an Oakland accident that happened Saturday morning on 880 Freeway.
The California Highway Patrol said two vehicles collided in the northbound lanes of the freeway just south of the 23rd Avenue on-ramp.
Responding emergency personnel found a red Chevrolet Silverado and a blue SUV with crash damage.
Two people were severely injured in the crash. One person sustained a broken leg, and the other a broken jaw and bleeding from the face. The victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The CHP report also said there was a solo-car crash at the same scene around the same time that resulted in property damage only.
The collisions forced the closure of the Nos. 1, 2, and 3 lanes of the northbound 880 Freeway just north of 23rd Avenue. All lanes were reopened at 7:14 a.m.
