2 Killed in Kettleman City Crash on 5 Freeway near Lost Hills Road

Kern County, California (November 6, 2022) – Two people were killed in a car crash that happened at the Kings County and Kern County line near Kettleman City on Saturday afternoon.

The fatal crash happened on southbound 5 Freeway near Lost Hills Road at around 3:54 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

An Infiniti was driving at a high rate of speed in the number 1 lane and was trying to pass another vehicle when it struck the back end of a Nissan traveling ahead of the other car.

The impact of the collision caused both cars to flip over into a dirt field.

The driver and the front right passenger of the Infinity were both ejected and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the deceased person was not immediately disclosed.

Two other passengers in the Infiniti and all four occupants of the Nissan suffered minor injuries.

Additional information about the accident was not provided.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
