2 Hurt in Poway Accident on State Route 67

Poway, California (March 5, 2023) – Two people were injured in a traffic collision that happened in Poway on Saturday night, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The wreck took place on State Route 67 at about 11:12 p.m. March 5.

Authorities said a 28-year-old woman was driving a 2008 Mercedes-Benz sedan on SR 67 when she drifted into the northbound lanes and drove the wrong way up the embankment.

The sedan then rolled back into the roadway and landed on a 2017 Volkswagen GTI that was being driven by a 27-year-old man.

The driver of the Mercedes was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The other motorist was taken to Palomar Medical Center Escondido with minor injuries.

Authorities said alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the collision.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
