An SUV was possibly involved in a collision with another car, then overturned onto its side, trapping one person inside.
Long Beach firefighters responded to the scene and used the Jaws of Life to extricate the victim.
The party was transported to the hospital with major injuries.
Traffic lanes were shut down during the rescue operation. The lanes were reopened around 10:46 p.m.
