1 Killed in Belmont Car Crash on 280 Freeway near Highway 92

Woodside, California (April 23, 2023) – One person was killed in a car crash on Saturday afternoon in Belmont.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at around 4:05 p.m. on Interstate 280 Freeway near State Route 92.

A white Ford sedan was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-280 when it crashed into a black BMW near the Upper Crystal Springs Reservoir.

The female driver of the BMW was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

A 14-year-old boy who was riding a passenger in the BMW was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Ford was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The third, fourth and fifth lanes of the freeway were temporarily closed as officers cleared the scene.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
